Job Summary:
The Nursing Coordinator provides supervision to LPNs and CNAs. The Nursing Coordinator ensures client care is provided in conformance with recognized techniques and procedures, established standards, state regulations and administrative policies. The Nursing Coordinator is dually supervised by the Administrator and RN.

Essential Functions:
- Oversees the administration and documentation of client records, medication, treatments and
- therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, noting any reactions or responses.
- * Maintains records and reports as required.
- * Participates in training and instruction of staff.
- * Participates in developing, implementing, and reviewing quarterly and annually nursing plans of care.
- * Informs the RN/Medical Director of any changes in physical conditions of the clients, facility
- problems, or other matters of importance as stated in guidelines and procedures.
- * Attends required in-service and staff meetings.
- * Communicates effectively with all levels of staff, clients, and their families as well as physicians.
- * Participates in continuing education to meet professional requirements.
- * Ensures adequate nursing coverage in a 24-hour period.
- * Complete monthly chart audits, maintaining weekly medication and daily narcotic counts.
- * Coordinate medical appointments.
- * Ensure that post-discharge and post consult orders are followed.
- * Ensure Medical Director is informed of all hospitalizations and follow-up on discharge orders are addressed as well as ensuring the Medical Director evaluates the clients within 48-hours
- post discharge.
- * Serves as contact for parent/guardian to address questions and concerns.
- * Assist with emergency situations.
- * Regulate usage of medical supplies.
- Serve as primary liaison with Pharmacy.
- Work with QIDP to ensure all client's needs are met.
- Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor(s).
- Keeps RN and Administrator informed/updated on all pertinent events and incidents/accidents within the facility.
- Gives daily facility, client, and staff report and/or concerns to RN as necessary.
- Help coordinate and evacuate with the facility in the event of an emergency.
Required Skills/Abilities:
This position requires knowledge of the client population. It requires interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Supervision experience is preferred but not required.
Education and Experience:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing and possess a current Louisiana license to practice nursing.
- One year of experience in the field of practical nursing is preferred.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Sitting, Standing,
Walking, Talking, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
Physical Demands: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative
nature.

- Use of hands to finger, handle or feel over 66% of time on duty.

- Full ability to talk and hear. Correctable vision required.
