Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Prepare and proofread legal documents, such as contracts and briefs
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents
- Schedule appointments and manage attorney calendars
- Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls and managing emails
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar role
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
- Proficiency in conducting legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis
- Strong proofreading skills to ensure accuracy of legal documents
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Knowledge of clerical duties in a legal setting
- Ability to transcribe dictations accurately
- Experience with document management systems, such as iManage
