DeRango & Cain, LLC is a small law firm in Rockford, IL with a close-knit, casual, and family friendly environment.
We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Legal Assistant to provide support in the area of civil litigation (primarily personal injury and workers' compensation), as well as real estate, trusts and estates. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of the attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support
- Handle communication with clients, witnesses etc.
- Type and file legal documents and correspondence
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Maintain contact lists
- Monitor deadlines and manage calendars
Skills
- Proven working experience as Legal Assistant or legal secretary, with experience in the relevant areas of law
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and the court system
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
- Computer literacy,
- Proficiency in English
- Working knowledge of case management software, experience with Clio a definite plus, but not required
- Ability to juggle multiple activities in a busy office environment without sacrificing attention to detail
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
