POSITION: Leadership and Development (L&D) Specialist: The L&D Specialist is a key position, directly impacting the business by partnering with department managers to create a path to productivity and growth for employees. This position is responsible for development, implementation, enhancement, and administration of the L&D programs to align with the organization’s business objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will develop an orientation/assimilation program and new employee onboarding, inclusive of creating and deploying role specific onboarding processes, focused on ramping new entrants to productivity much quicker.
- Will create and build a program allowing for students to begin learning our business, products, and tools before they become employees, creating a funnel of new talent in our fastest growing business areas. This will require identifying schools, building curriculum, negotiating program details, and building out a mechanism to deploy this partnership productively.
- Formalize career paths for each area of the business to easily articulate growth opportunities for employees to grow with us.
- Evaluates existing learning programs and curriculum. Assesses effectiveness and gaps. Creates solutions to fully round out learning programs.
- Oversee internships, as needed by the business.
- Partners with others to ensure high potential employees have solid development plans creating experiences and exposure for intentional growth.
- Responsible for technical training, soft skills training, new and experienced manager training, through content development or acquired training content.
- Coordinates Emerson and Impact Partner training, along with technical training needs acquired through Emerson.
- Implements and manages the LMS system within UKG.
- May be asked to participate in some succession planning and Development potential work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or in Adult Learning preferred. Able to substitute applicable work experience. 3+ years of directly related L&D work required required.
- Has demonstrated experience using and deploying an LMS system and associated content. UKG preferred.
- Has a solid understanding of adult learning concepts.
- Selects tools and delivery mechanisms based on the needs of the audience, recognizing many of our employees are working in remote locations and don’t have availability to full-time computer access.
- Has proven experience utilizing metrics to assess the effectiveness of training and onboarding programs.
- Possesses strong leadership skills as well as effective consultative skills, and sound business judgment. Prefer experience working in an industrial organization and where all employees don’t sit at a computer.
- Proactively partners with leaders to create an environment that is conducive to Learning and growth.
- Has demonstrated solid examples of creative problem solving to accomplish desired business results.
- Strong customer service orientation. Solid interpersonal skills to effectively interact at all levels.

Working Conditions:
Works primarily in an office setting but must be comfortable in a shop and or warehouse environment as well. This position may require some travel, not to exceed 10%. This is an onsite position, based from the Englewood CO office, so must be comfortable coming into the office and being present with the employees of Applied Control. Some minimal lifting may be required. Requires the ability to stand for long periods, presenting training materials or workshops.
Compensation:
Base Wage Range: $75,000 - $100,000.00 annual salary depending upon experience and job-related education. Unique skills will be taken into consideration when setting the wage rate. Only those with significant experience (10 + years) will have a starting wage higher than $100,000. This is an exempt role.
Other Variable Compensation: Eligible for participation in profit sharing program.
