Metro's Information Technology department is looking for a working IT Systems Supervisor to supervise and lead the team responsible for the agency's computing systems and networks. If you enjoy technology and working with a dedicated team of professionals then we encourage you to apply!

  • Palo Alto firewalls;
  • VMWare virtualization;
  • Microsoft Server;
  • Dell EMC enterprise storage;
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure AD.
As the IT Systems Supervisor you will:
  • Supervise implementation and administration of IT Systems processes, activities, and systems.
  • Prepare budget based on resources available and requirements and monitor expenditures.
  • Develop short- and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for operational effectiveness of IT Systems team. Determine strategies, monitor progress, and resolve issues.
  • Implement and administer policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with Metro Code, federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Provide supervision and direction to support IT Systems positions by assigning work, evaluating performance, and providing training to ensure effective delivery of services.
  • Develop reports and present recommendations to department managers and other affected groups.
  • Direct creative approaches, procedures, and quality control standards to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to analyze complex business needs and technical requirements, assess IT solutions and workload requirements.
  • Supervise and lead planning, management and architecture of complex technologies that cover the broad range of IT infrastructure.
  • Plan and arrange for project resources, plans, and consulting services as required.
  • Act as liaison coordinator between teams.
  • Supervise external consultants and implementers.
  • Act as the senior incident coordinator to pull together a subset of the team to solve the more complex incidents and problems.
  • Act as project manager for complex technical efforts.
  • Supervise documentation of systems and network procedures, configurations, topologies, and outages. Report status to staff and key stakeholders.
  • Assess leading technological trends; provide transfer of knowledge, provide cross-training and trains users in complex topics.
  • Identify system enhancements that will support the organization's business objectives. Work with professional staff to analyze current system, define goals and determine benefits of proposed system.
  • Research alternative solutions for old/new services, failures, replacements or upgrades.
  • Make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks; has responsibility for purchase justification.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • Enterprise storage and backup platforms

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in the assigned program area; AND
  • Four years progressively responsible experience in the field; OR
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities of the position.

Like to have qualifications:
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience, including the military, or life experience that are relevant for this position.
  • Supervisory and project management experience
  • Professional technical certification: CCIE/CCNP, Microsoft, ITIL, etc.
  • Experience with hosted productivity and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365
  • Experience with web conferencing, videoconferencing, AV, and broadcasting platforms
  • Experience with enterprise security cameras, and access control systems
COMPENSATION AND REPRESENTATION
Based on the requirements, Metro's internal equity review process, and the candidates' qualifications, the appointment will typically be made between $99,695.00 to $109,914.00. The full-salary range for this position is $99,695.00 to $133,601.00 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime and is non-represented. It is classified as a Classification descriptions are typically written broadly and do not include the specific duties and responsibilities of the positions.
