The Investments and Mergers &Acquisitions Intern will support the Investments and M&A team at EDP Renewables Distributed Generation, with a focus on evaluating solar project opportunities in the distributed generation (DG) space. The work undertaken during the internship may include deal negotiation support, coordination and support of financial analysis efforts, note-taking for various transaction activities, database management, and general support efforts across the team and DG platform.
This is a paid 10-week, part-time internship that will start on or around January 2024, with an end date in April 2024. (Hybrid work schedule)
Main Accountabilities:
- Supporting solar distributed generation M&A transactions, assisting with all aspects of deal execution;
- Assisting with negotiations for transactions (including key contracts and documents);
- Assisting with due diligence processes undertaken by junior team members;
- Coordinating preparation of required documents for investment approval processes;
- Updating key internal databases regarding current deal-flow and live transactions
- Review and support on financial models used in the valuation of new deals, both from the M&A team or arising from other business areas, such as Greenfield, Business Development or Community Solar, namely for Investment Decisions / Approvals;
- Analyzing financial statements and trends, including written analysis of both actual and forecasted financial data;
- Ensuring collaboration with other teams at the EDPR NA DG platform, including construction, engineering, development, operations, and asset management functions.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (in Junior year or higher) or an advance post-graduate program; while there is no formal major/degree requirement, a quantitative or economics/financial background (either with a declared major or concentration) is strongly preferred
- 0-2 years of experience with energy markets (general familiarity with the electricity industry and with the basics of power generation projects is helpful);
- 0-2 years of financial analysis experience(financial modeling, econometrics, financial statement analysis, etc.)
