Position Description:
The Intake Coordinator will work closely with the Crisis Services Team, Ascent Recovery Program and Agape Home at Lighthouse Mission Ministry’s (LMM’s) with a focus on guests entering services. The Coordinator will be responsible for the screening and intake process, maintaining accurate records in the database, and helping to create an atmosphere of hospitality. The ideal candidate will desire a challenging, fast-paced, rewarding and service-oriented work environment. This is a full-time non-exempt position with a pay range between

$21.00 to $23.00 DOE.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist current guests and new applicants in completing intake paperwork, reviewing information provided, and conducting screening for both the Ascent Program and Agape Home.
  • Enter guest records accurately into the database and follow up about missing information as needed.
  • Help maintain a waitlist for Base Camp’s specific programs and low barrier bed availability as well as providing a timely response to applicants.
  • Represent LMM to outside agencies through professional communications.
  • Assist with scheduling intake appointments and screening for potential residents.
  • Conduct background screening on potential guests to ensure program compatibility within established guidelines.
  • Provide and facilitate an environment that relationally shares with residents the full range of resources available to assist them, particularly further LMM programming in overcoming the conditions that cause homelessness.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation on each applicant and throughout the screening process.
  • Assist Program Directors in the intake and orientation process for each individual entering services. This may include in person interviews, initial drug screens, and other daily operations activities.
  • Maintain an up to date intake packet, resource list, and other department specific documents adhering to program changes as needed.
  • Work with the Program Administrator on HMIS Data input and grant reporting as needed.
  • Participate in prayer and Christian Devotionals in a group setting
  • Maintain a positive, pleasant, and professional attitude. Work with other staff to model transparent and supportive Christian relationships, which will serve as a leadership example for residents.
  • Oversee, encourage and train volunteers and interns as needed.
  • Participate in regular team and community meetings as needed.
  • Maintain a current understanding of LMM programs and operations. This may require attendance at other programming events.
  • Act as a liaison with outside agencies to ensure a successful transition into services when appropriate.
  • Embrace and use LMM's grace-based accountability philosophy.
  • Any duties as assigned.


Organizational Relationships:

  • Works alongside a team of Men’s Recovery Services staff, Agape Home staff, Crisis Services staff, volunteers and interns.
  • Represents LMM to other social service agencies.
  • Works in conjunction with the Program Administrator as position relates to guest data collection and quality.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Crisis Services

Qualifications:

  • Experience in social services, working with individuals experiencing homelessness, and/or in the rescue mission environment preferred.
  • A passion for serving Jesus and making the Gospel known through mercy ministry. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life and be in agreement with the Lighthouse Mission’s Statement of Faith and Personal Covenant
  • Have knowledge of and preferably experience with issues of homelessness, poverty, addiction, domestic violence and recovery.
  • Strong in Administrative skills and organization
  • Able to use judgment to make independent decisions.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity in all forms is required.
  • Ability to pass drug and criminal background screenings.
  • High boundary setting and self-reflection skills.
  • Basic motivational interviewing skills preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with program residents and volunteers.
  • Ability to remain calm and calm others in an emergency and/or confrontational situations.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with LMM staff and with a diverse client base.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills-both written and oral
  • -for communication with co-workers, men and women staying as guests, and outside agencies.
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Gmail, and Google Calendar.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • Ability to report as regularly scheduled to the work-site and remain awake and alert during shift
  • Standing 45%; walking 25%; sitting 50%; ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Medium to heavy lifting, up to 35 lbs
  • Possible exposure to a variety of illnesses
  • Both inside and outside activities regardless of weather
  • Ability to rapidly deal with emergency situations in an intermittently high-stress environment
