The main responsibility of a Wiredrawer is to test and evaluate incoming raw material, in process material, finished material, and determine its suitability for use in FWM products. Monitor and assess the quality of the wire to ensure it meets FWM's standards and customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform tests and inspections in a timely and efficient manner to minimize the investment of labor and materials in unsuitable wire and ensure the wire meets FWM and customer criteria.
- Provide insight regarding the cause of insufficient wire quality and devise proposals to eliminate them.
- Verifies certification of processes and material on incoming products as required by Fort Wayne Metals specification and procedures.
- Follow inspection procedures regarding testing and inspection of wire.
- Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators.
- Report inspection information to the Plant Manager, Team Leader, and/or Department Shift Lead as needed.
- Manipulation of information regarding materials in various systems.
- Ensure correct inventory status of raw materials if applicable based on department.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year of manufacturing experience is required. Hands-on technical experience, including but not limited to mechanical, machine shop, fabrication, audio-visual, quality control/assurance, maintenance, inspection, or engineering experience may be considered in lieu of manufacturing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast-paced production environment.
- Work hours consist of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime may sometimes be necessary.
- May work with and around hazardous chemicals.
- Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required.
- Exposure to fluctuating temperatures may occur.
- Travel to other plants may sometimes be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Average weights in production range from 10-25 lbs. Maximum weights may exceed 75+lbs. depending on department.
- Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors.
- Standing/walking most of shift.
- Visual acuity is required.
