Tank Inspector/Diesel Mechanic

Overview: Mechanic/Tanker Inspector will be responsible for repairs and preventive maintenance of trailers. Ability to conduct VK and IP inspections on tanker trailers. Hilco will assist in the transfer of certification.

Job Duties:

• Day to day maintenance repairs on Trailers.
• Inspect, trouble shoot, diagnose, and perform maintenance on Cargo trailers.
• Perform safety inspections of Cargo trailers and prepares safety documents required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company and any other Federal, State or Local regulations.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems with Code spec cargo tanks. (MC331 and DOT407)
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets manufacturer’s specifications and legislated regulations.
• Ability to work in confined space.
• Ability to conduct VK and IP inspections on tanker trailers MC331.
• Schedule: 6:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
• Computer skills as required.
• Must have own tools.
• Completed paperwork in a timely and concise manner.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
• Physical activities include walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, to fit in a 18" manway for confined space work, etc.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• 5 years trailer mechanic experience preferred
• High school diploma or GED required
