Job description

Close Date: November 29, 2023This position administers and oversees network design, implementation, organization, and troubleshooting, and provides technical support for the Board of County Commissioner's (BCC) enterprise network and voice infrastructure.EXAMPLES OF DUTIESDesigns, plans, analyzes, codes, tests, deploys, and supports new and existing applications, databases, reporting systems, and/or software in support of business operations; defines functional and technical system specificationsManages projects such as network moves, software integration, upgrades, and conversionsPrepares detailed plans, test prior to implementation, and coordinates with other personnelProvides higher level support to the BCC help desk and network team in incident and problem isolation, resolution, and documentation for any network or VoIP related issuesAnalyzes needs, then designs systems and applications based on the analysis to support growth within the BCCAssists with the development, planning, implementation, support, and administration of asset inventoryMonitors, manages, and reports on network and voice availability and performance utilizing the organization's IT tools and processesDevelops recommendations for enhancements where relevant or requiredEnsures that network and voice infrastructure is following all relevant policies and standards (e.g., security, regulations, CJIS, etc.)Provides technical consultation to end users (including management) on wide array of network and voice infrastructure requests and issuesCommunicates with peers and management for all tasks, projects, and outage situationsPerforms other duties as assignedTYPICAL QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualification Requirements:Training and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience in networking and LAN/WAN support; or a combination of experience and education equivalent to these requirements.Licenses and Certifications:Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residencePreferred Qualifications:Cisco CCNA, Network+ or Security+ certificationA combination of excellent and demonstrable network services and equipment technical skills, (data/voice routing and switching, facility provisioning, etc.)Extensive knowledge and experience with enterprise digital network services, routing and switching design as well as communication hardware platforms and network protocolsOperational experience with VoIP in an enterprise environment for hardware and software supportKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs):Cisco NetworkingData Center (4500 and Nexus switch), WAN environments, and scripting knowledge OSPF, RIP, BGP, and EIGRP routing protocolsTCP/IP, OSI layer troubleshooting, IPV4 sub-nettingorganizationcommunication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work directionconfigure and perform support of QoS, VPN components, Cisco ASAutilize Cisco ACS AAA Server and WSA Web Filterunderstand, leverage, and adhere to change management policiesmanage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentSUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONCounty-wide Employee Responsibilities:All Escambia County BCC employees must serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Escambia County BCC's Employee Code of Ethics, gift, and conflict of interest policies.All Escambia County BCC employees must establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, political affiliation, familial status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or gender identity and expression.Emergency Management Responsibilities:During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.Physical Requirements:Positions in this class typically require sitting, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sedentary work involves sitting frequently during the day.
