Human Resources Senior Generalist

Given the opportunities and challenges in recruiting and retaining clinical, administrative and leadership talent in today’s workplace, especially in the not-for-profit mental healthcare sector, this is a critical position for NYFS, that requires a focused knowledgeable HR manager.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting directly to the President and CEO, collaborates with leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
• Administers human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; performance management; disputes and investigations; and talent management; occupational health and safety; and training.
• Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
• Be the point of contact on compensation, benefit, and other HR questions for employees.
• Monitors the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; suggests revisions and modifications to policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to leadership team.
• Maintain complete employee files in accordance with best practice and appropriate laws.
• Enter and verify accuracy of bi-weekly payroll with Paychex.
• Conduct data entry of employee information into Paychex and other data- keeping platforms.
• Actively contribute to staff meetings, and agency and community events as assigned.
• Abides by all professional ethical standards.
• Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

• A BS/BA with an HR concentration or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of professional-level Human Resource work experience
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to complete reports, develop policy and procedures, create job descriptions and other documents
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in nonprofit and/or mental health settings
• Experience working with Paychex Time and Attendance and Payroll Systems.

Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000 per year based on education, training and/or experience.
