Overall Accountability: Under the general direction of the HR Manager, the HR Generalist is responsible for the administration of the company medical benefits, wellness program, retirement, compensation, and leave of absence policies. Also responsible for Worker’s Compensation for two locations in Ohio and unemployment reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the administration of the day-to-day activities related to all benefit programs including but not limited to Health and Welfare Plans, 401(k), Short- and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefit Programs and Discount Programs, ADA, and Leaves of Absences.
- Works directly with the company medical insurance broker to maintain relationship and work toward the evaluation of a favorable annual renewal year over year.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of a self-funded Workers’ Compensation program in the State of Ohio.
- Work closely with the Safety Manager to minimize the costs associated with work-injury claims.
- Manage the facilitation of payment for all invoices while maintaining and auditing their accuracy.
- Investigate and determine cost-savings opportunities through various insurance, out-sourcing, funding and negotiated solutions.
- Manage the processing of enrollments, status changes, terminations, qualifying events, court orders, leave requests, and disabilities are accurately completed to comply with regulations and maintain customer service levels.
- Assist with creating and implementing policies and procedures for new benefit programs.
- Work with HR Manager on all compensation practices for the organization.
- Responsible for all unemployment insurance reporting and unemployment hearings as needed.
Technical Skills
- Manage employee benefits data within the Human Resources Information Systems.
- Oversee the transfer of data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors, and consultants.
- Coordinate and review the development of all summary plan description materials.
- Thorough knowledge of various key Federal Laws, including but not limited to OSHA, ERISA, HIPAA.
- Thorough knowledge of Ohio Workers Compensation Law and practice.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with ADP a plus
