We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team! This position will be expected to drive and implement HR initiatives to increase organizational effectiveness, build capability and talent of workforce, and lead strategy and tactics to positively impact overall business performance and HR metrics. This position will require the ability to work independently with a reliable and dependable work ethic. The ideal candidate will have Human Resources experience in a union environment.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in Zanesville, OH. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Ensure positive employee relations through communication, issue resolutions, and fair and equitable treatment
- Day-to-day oversight of labor relations within the geographical area as well as participation in labor negotiations
- Collaborates with management and other departments to assess, analyze, and strategize to acquire and maintain talent
- Assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures
- Support employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
- Monitors performance evaluation program
- Acts as on-site employee benefit contact
- Maintains employment records
- Recruits for open positions and on boards new employees
- Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local compliance
- Assists in administration of safety policies and procedures
- Manages Worker’s Compensation claims on site relaying pertinent information to 3rd party administrators and Plant Management
- Monitors monthly unemployment compensation reports and files necessary paperwork to appeal cases
- Conducts investigations into employee disputes or claims and provide summary of findings with recommendations
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all Company personnel
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; OR Associate’s degree (A.A.) degree in Human Resources Management and 3-5 years of Human Resources experience; OR any similar combination of education and experience.
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
- Previous experience working in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
- Thorough working knowledge of general office procedures
- Ability to function independently
- Ability to interface effectively at the plant, supervision and management levels
- Professional, customer-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Union experience preferred but not required
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and ability to differentiate colors.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet and professional. Occasionally required to enter plant environment, which is usually moderate to loud, however, appropriate PPE is provided. Temperature of the factory is relative to the outside temperature.
