Rio Grande Co. actively seeks a candidate for a Human Resources Generalist/Payroll position for a multi-site building materials distribution company. The Human Resources Generalist/Payroll position will be responsible for a variety of functions in the Human Resources Department including administering payroll, maintaining the HRIS database, new hire orientation, benefits administration, safety, workers compensation and other Human Resources duties. Must be able to communicate and relate well to individual differences and needs in a fast-paced work environment. Genuinely enjoys collaborating with all team members.  Be able to communicate in simple terms how new regulations and other governmental or company programs affect the team members. Work well and communicate with management, division managers and fellow corporate team members. Understands the importance of listening and communicating with the team.

 

Essential Functions

1.    Responsible for the entry, maintenance, processing, and reconciliation of bi-weekly payroll in ADP Workforce Now.

2.    Maintains accurate and up-to-date Human Resources files, records, and documentation.

3.    Ability to run and analyze data for Human Resources report, such as attendance, new hire, and turnover data.

4.    Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

5.    Conducts or acquires background checks, MVR, and employee eligibility verifications.

6.    Delivery all new hire orientations. At orientation, must be able to communicate how our safety and benefit programs impact individuals.

7.    Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

8.    Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, company-side meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties and retirement celebrations.

9.    Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

10. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

11. Member of the Safety Committee and responsible for timely processing of workers’ compensation claims; evaluates accident reports to determine accuracy and completeness and to ensure adequate investigation.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

·       A minimum of 1 year of experience handling workers’ compensation claims and/or safety.

·       A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources.

·       A minimum of 3 years’ experience processing payroll and HRIS data in ADP Workforce Now.

·       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ADP Workforce Now and/or other payroll systems

·       BA/BS degree or equivalent years of job experience is required, the degree with an emphasis in Human Resources/Business Administration is preferred.

·       Ability to travel locally across the Denver Front Range, up to 15%

·       Active PHR or SHRM-CP certification, strongly preferred.

·       Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

 

 

The hourly range for this position is $31.90 - $39.35 with an opportunity to earn a discretionary bonus, profit sharing grant and 401(k) match. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
