We circulate more than 1.5 million items annually, but we believe that a library is more than a place to borrow free materials. This is a 40-hour per week, non-exempt role. Anticipated schedule: M-F, 9AM-5PM, with flexibility of working remotely up to two days per week.


Job Summary:


The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the organization’s bi-weekly payroll, talent acquisition, benefits administration, regulating compliance, organizational development and training functions, and completing special projects.


Essential Functions:

  • Administers the Human Resources Information System and maintains accurate personnel records. (20%)
  • Prepares biweekly payroll by verifying time entry records, pay changes, deductions and withholdings. Calculates and produces off cycle payroll, bonus, and severance checks or electronic transfers. (20%)
  • Administers talent acquisition process by assisting hiring supervisors with creating job postings, recruiting, resume review, interview process and question coordination, checking references, performing background checks, conducting job offers, and onboarding. (20%)
  • Writes, implements, and maintains internal process documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, and the employee handbook. Assists with consistent communication and enforcement of employee policies. (15%)
  • Coordinates with benefits broker to research health and wellness benefits, analyze costs, relevancy, and value of offerings, and administers the annual open enrollment process and employee wellness program. (15%)
  • Coordinates annual performance evaluation, annual goal setting, and job description update processes. (10%)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects organization operations by keeping information confidential; advises employees to prevent potential privacy breaches.
  • Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures.
  • Supports organization with coordinating training and professional development tracking.
  • Supports organization with Equal Employment Opportunity and other labor regulation compliance.
  • Maintains compliance with tax regulations by remaining current regarding changes in tax regulations; monitoring procedures; auditing practices; preparing for and supporting audits.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience – bachelor’s degree in business administration or Human Resources and a minimum of three years of Human Resources work experience including Payroll and Benefits administration. Experience preparing and implementing recruiting and new hire onboarding processes, schedules, and training.
  • Knowledge and Skills – Proficiency with writing, editing, and proofreading documents. Skilled at organizing information and maintaining records. Current knowledge of employment and labor laws
  • Technical Experience – Proficiency with querying and data entry in Human Resources Information System and Financial software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PHR or SPHR certification.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience using and administering Paylocity.
