Position Summary: Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level. The position works closely with the Controller to carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employment, employee relations, training, compensation, benefits and administering policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Partners with management and employees to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
Ø Stays current on recent federal and state labor law updates to ensure the Company maintains compliance with regulations concerning employment.
Ø Administers human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee policy manual. Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Ø Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
Ø Designs personnel forms and directs the maintenance of personnel records by all departments.
Ø Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
Ø Creates and manages job descriptions.
Ø Coordinates recruitment efforts with hiring managers, accepts resumes and applications, conducts interviews, and may assist with the final decision process.
Ø Conducts new hire orientation.
Ø Performs benefits administration to include; obtaining bids upon renewal, performing open enrollment and benefits meetings, processes enrollments or changes, approves invoices for payment, claims resolution and communicates benefit information to employees.
Ø Administers benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, pension plans, PTO, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
Ø Develops, coordinates and maintains employee recognition programs.
Ø Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints.
Ø Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
Ø Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
Ø Conducts exit interviews, reviews data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
Ø Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation.
Ø Conducts training needs assessments, develops training curriculum and facilitates and/or provides training sessions on various topics.
Ø Analyzes wage, salary and benefit reports and data to determine competitive total compensation plan.
Ø Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
Ø Acts as backup to payroll department for payroll processing.
Ø Handles worker’s compensation claims and tracking.
Ø Manages Human Resources budget.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Ø Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources.
Ø Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
Ø Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or labor laws.
Ø Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ø Communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively address all levels within and outside of the organization.
Education/Training/Experience:
Ø Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or other related field.
Ø Three (3) years general experience in the HR field.
