The Bureau of Human Resources, Region 2 is currently recruiting to fill a Human Resources Assistant vacancy at either the entry or Advanced level. This position will be located at the Department of Corrections, Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (MSDF) in Milwaukee, WI.
NOTE: This position is eligible to work remotely 1 day a week.

Position Summary
This position provides paraprofessional technical administrative assistance within the Human Resources Department and the Employment Relations program at MSDF and will independently perform a wide variety of functions including coordination of staffing, recruitment, hiring, employment relations, application of rules and regulation guidelines. This position serves as a backup for Workers Compensation/230.36 and Payroll and provides assistance to the HR Director and provides technical assistance to institution staff and the public regarding the Human Resources program.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $24.00 and $26.50 per hour for the entry level and between $27.00 and $30.00 for the Advanced level, plus excellent benefits. Pay upon appointment may vary and will be in accordance with language in the Compensation Plan, Statutes, and Administrative Code. The pay schedule/range is 81-05 for the entry level and 81-04 for the Advanced level. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Job Details

Qualifications
- Interpreting, applying, and communicating rules, statutes, policies, and/or procedures to various audiences such as supervisors, employees, and the public.
- Utilizing computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) to create or manage reports, spreadsheets, memos, etc.
- Interpreting Human Resources related laws and/or regulations (e.g., Workers Compensation, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family & Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action, etc.)
- Performing recruitment and selection activities such as coordinating interviews, creating/auditing position descriptions, and processing hiring documents.
- Working with a Human Resources Information System (e.g. PeopleSoft, Kronos, Taleo, etc.)
- Providing administrative support in an HR setting (e.g. maintaining files and/or records, drafting correspondence, assembling materials, etc.)
- Additional HR experience (e.g. position management, salary calculation, checking references, maintaining recruitment files, etc.)
