WORKHOURS:

Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Director of Human Resources

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist and Support the Human Resources department to include the Safety & Payroll Managers to perform and support a variety of HR tasks and duties. The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource department to include the Safety and Payroll Managers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Associate's Degree in Human Resources or relevant experience. Prior office experience preferred.

Pay Range:$18 - $20 per hour, depending on experience and education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide timely and courteous support and assistance to current employees of the organization in a variety of facets, utilizing multiple communication tools.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • May assist with payroll functions with supervision of the payroll manager to include answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • File/Scan departmental paperwork and purge documents according to procedures.
  • Provide support as needed the hiring process in applicant screening, processing and/or interviews to include verifications of employment.
  • Participate in MSLCC's Quality Assurance & Improvement Program as assigned.
  • Will be responsible to be aware of the Volunteer Protection Program (VPP) and Risk Management/Safety Program and will adhere to the established policies and procedures within the Administration department and facility wide with regards to job performance and safe operating procedures.
  • Must respect and uphold resident rights in all regards including confidentiality of resident's personal, financial and health information.
  • Demonstrates MSLCC's customer service standards of excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15-20 pounds occasionally for lifting or moving objects.
  • Must be able to work in a sedentary position, standing and walking occasionally.
  • Must have hearing acuity sufficient for effective communication in person and by phone.
  • Must have visual acuity sufficient for close paperwork and frequently viewing computer monitor.
