Job Description
Wedbush Securities Inc. is one of the largest full-service investment banking and brokerage firms in the nation. We are seeking an HR Specialist for our Los Angeles office. This individual is responsible for acting as a reliable resource for the division by providing administrative support to all HR functions including Benefits, HRIS, Recruiting, and General HR duties. This role is mainly remote and may require reporting into the Los Angeles or Pasadena office a few times a month.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist and provide support to all Human Resources teams, including data entry tasks as requested
  • Act as a point of contact for managers and other personnel by handling all HR-related matters in a timely manner, including employee verifications, unemployment claims, interpretation of handbook policies, terminations, employee relations issues, HR-related research, and any other HR-related issues
  • Organize, update, and audit company personnel records and documentation through the firm's Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Maintain and organize the offboarding experience for all departing colleagues
  • Respond to internal and external HR inquiries via phone, email, and other approved channels of communication
  • Collaborate on ways to utilize data entry and analytics to measure Human Capital effectiveness for firm business units
  • Assist in shaping and updating employee handbook, and company policies & procedures
  • Research and recommend HR policies and procedures
  • Assist with employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviews
  • Assist with workplace investigations and prepare summary reports/documents for management
  • Co-manage the offboarding process for both voluntary and involuntary separations
  • Assist with workers' compensation administration and workplace accommodations issues
  • Assist, prepare, reconcile and audit HR department activities, such as Rule 2202 (AQMD), FedEx billing, parking validation, OSHA 300 logs, emergency evacuation plan, etc.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as required and assigned

Experience and Skills
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of multistate and federal HR/employment laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of HR best practices including employee relations, policies and procedures, compliance
  • Experience with web or cloudbased HR software (e.g.UKG)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various departments and levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred

Job Benefits
The reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$75,000. Colleagues may be eligible for additional, discretionary incentive compensation based on the individual and the firm's performance. At Wedbush, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at, or near, the top of the range for their role. Decisions regarding compensation are determined on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on a variety of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
