Job description

JSM & Associates, LLC ("JSM") is seeking a professional, skilled individual to fill the role of the company's HR Specialist - Benefits. This role will administer and manage the benefits offered to the eligible employees of JSM & Associates, LLC, and our subsidiary, JSM Airport Services, LLC. The HR Specialist - Benefits will report directly to the Director of Human Resources but may also assist other individuals within both of the organizations.
Compensation:

  • Salary starting at $58k, commensurate with experience.
  • Paid weekly

Responsible for managing and administering a company's employee benefit programs, from retirement plans and health insurance to life insurance and beyond.
  • Benefit eligibility of employees based on hire dates and/or applicable qualifying life status changes.
  • Generate digital enrollment information to newly eligible employees.
  • Build employee profiles in Employee Navigator and generate registration emails to newly eligible employees.
  • Review reports for completion of enrollments and enter applicable deductions/employer expense into payroll software.
  • Calculate applicable final benefit/property deductions when employment ends, with notification to payroll (and any other necessary departments)
  • Enter employee terminations in Employee Navigator, process COBRA notifications (through a third-party administrator), and mail out non-COBRA benefit information when applicable.
  • Assist with claims (short-term disability, long-term disability, or life), when needed.
  • Conduct/administer/oversee the company's "open enrollment".
  • Prepare and submit the contributions/employer match of participating employees to the record keeper of the company's 401(k) plan.
  • Assist/manage 401(k) rollover requests, as well as 401(k) hardship withdrawals.
  • Provide information, when needed, related to the company's Form 5500 filing, as well as the actual filing of same.
  • Provide necessary information (to external auditors) related to the 401(k)-plan audit.
  • Administer/Promote the company's Wellness Program, in conjunction with the health insurance provider.
  • Administer other company provided benefits.
  • Assist with fringe benefit wage calculations, when applicable
  • Coordinates quarterly review of benefits program (claim and cost analysis)
  • Workers Compensation Program: Tracks cases, follows company guidelines to determine return-to-work eligibility. Case Management - coordinate resolution with carriers and JSM site leadership
  • Drug Screening / Urgent Care Clinics: Supports Service sites by identifying, establishing, and overseeing site-local clinics for their screening and injury mgmt. needs.
  • Affirmative Action Program: Timely and Accurate tracking of demographic data, leads/coordinates with outside vendor for compliance and report.
  • Garnishments respond promptly to the court order (if the order requires)
  • Complete/respond to employment verifications.
  • Processes and administers all paperwork: medical, ADA and FMLA.
  • Employee Files: Maintaining physical and digital personnel files.
  • Ensure smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries.
  • Supports HR department by cross-training and covering other roles during team member vacations.
  • Provides ad-hoc administrative support for Senior Management and other office staff as required.
  • Safety and compliance training as required.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in benefits administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and writing communication skills.
  • Effective in a team environment through collaboration and partnership
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve effectively, offering solutions to resolve issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and Power-Point

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

This full-time, exempt position will be located at JSM's Corporate Headquarters, which is currently located in Tavares, FL (the company anticipates moving in early 2024 to a location in Apopka, which will serve as our new corporate headquarters). The company offers a relaxed working environment, with a hybrid schedule 4 days at the office and 1 day working remotely, working hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
