Job Description
Berliner Cohen, LLP has an immediate opening for a full-time Human Resources Specialist in our San Jose office (this position is not hybrid or remote).
Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Requirements:
- A minimum of 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a similar capacity in a professional environment is required. Law firm experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of California employment regulations and payroll practices.
- Working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), familiarity with ADP WFN and ADP Time & Attendance is preferred.
- Must have experience with benefits administration (familiarity with FSA/HSA, HMO and PPOs, and other benefits).
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Able to be discreet, maintain strict confidentiality, and appropriately work with sensitive information and documents.
- Meticulous attention to detail and highly organized.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with timeliness and minimal error.
- Team player with desire to be an active participant within the firm.
- Must have a professional appearance and demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources:
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs critical administrative tasks to meet the unique needs of the HR department (benefits census creation, maintaining filing, new hire folders, document customization, new hire and termination packets, benefit communication, etc.).
- Uses ADP WFN and Time & Attendance for benefits, time collection, EEOC reporting, etc.
- Sets up interviews for attorneys and other staff and facilitate appointments, prescreen, and check references.
- Performs file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained.
- Maintains several HR and benefit related spreadsheets.
- Manages the process and renewal of CPR certifications and assists with the firm’s safety committee.
- Assists with posting ads and checking recruiting databases.
- Coordination of meetings, training, forms retrieval, assist with open enrollment, quarterly compliance, etc.
- Be an integral part of several committees within the firm.
- Other ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned.

The Human Resource Specialist hourly pay range is expected to be between $30.00 to $37.00. The successful candidate for this position is reasonably expected to be set within this range; however, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate's qualifications and experience.
