Day in the Life of an HR General Specialist:
- Supports local recruiting and outreach efforts to meet or exceed monthly and annual recruiting targets
- Assists in the administration and/ or tracking of employee development training
- Perform employee onboarding to include complete and accurate data entry into the HR Information system (HRIS)
- Conducts new employee orientation
- Resolve employee personnel inquiries and submits necessary inputs, changes, additions, and deletions into the HRIS. Reports unusual or unresolved problems to HR Manager for further action
- Maintain records of insurance coverage, retirement plans, and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and other related personnel and payroll matters. Processes performance reviews, wage/salary transactions, and disciplinary actions in the HRIS in a timely manner and within approval authorization.
- Processes leave of absences in the time-keeping system and ensures compliance with FMLA, ADA, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws
- Attend unemployment hearings as the dedicated HR representative as requested by HRM
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in HR, or higher education degree and one (1) year of related work experience in Human Resources or related field
- Experience working with an HRIS preferred
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times due to the handling of sensitive and information
- Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Windows, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other computer programs and software normally used by Human Resources.
