Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research is looking to fill our Human Resources Coordinator role. In this position you will support our HR department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. Additionally, you will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping us to plan and administer important functions, such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provides assistance
- Assists in maintaining records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database when necessary and ensures all employment requirements are met
- Liaises with other departments or functions
- Supports the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, interviewing and issuing employment contracts, etc.
- Assists supervisors in performance management procedures
- Schedules meetings, interviews, HR events etc.
- Coordinates training sessions and seminars
- Performs orientations, onboarding, and updates records with new hires
- Produces and submits reports on general HR activity
- Assists in ad-hoc HR projects
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- US Citizenship required
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field required
- Proven experience as an HR coordinator or relevant human resources/administrative position preferred
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
- Knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as other organizational/planning tools
- Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. Ascentis)
- In-depth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments
- Ability to detect and solve problems effectively
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong time-management skills
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to stand, sit, or move around for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive hand motions
- Available for partial weekend hours (1/2 day) and for recruiting events
