As part of the University of Alaska Anchorages' Shared Service HR Coordinator team, you will work collaboratively to solve problems and find solutions to support UAA employees. Your role as an HR Coordinator specifically supports our customers by providing a wide variety of general HR services at every level of the campus. This recruitment is open internally to current UA employees or those otherwise eligible to apply for internal postings.

As an HR Coordinator (HRC) you are an essential resource to supervisors to update position descriptions and support the recruiting process. You guide hiring managers and search committees through the full recruitment cycle. Your role has a significant impact on the new employee experience by ensuring accurate and timely completion and submission of new hire documentation to the UA HR personnel team and connecting the new employee with the UAA onboarding program.
Another critical role you play is to accurately process employment changes to ensure employees are compensated on time. As the liaison between the employees in your customer groups and the University of Alaska HR Services, Benefits & Compensation, and Talent Acquisition & Development teams, you prepare and submit the necessary documentation to bring about HR system changes such as employment transfers, salary adjustments, and other assignment changes. As an HRC, you are part of a team of professionals who provide support and mentorship to each other. HRCs attend internal team trainings as well as monthly system-wide training sessions and participate in monthly Roundtable meetings with UA HR leaders for discussions that cover a wide variety of HR topics. 

To thrive in the role you must be able to clearly explain complex processes in simple terms to a variety of customers from student workers to deans and vice provosts. You are motivated by helping people solve problems using patience and tact. You are comfortable asking questions when you don't understand. You can switch gears quickly when needed and incorporate change into your daily work. You'll succeed in this role if you are a dependable person who can be trusted to consistently deliver reliable work and enjoy assisting fellow team members. Staying organized, following up with customers regularly, and keeping track of multiple tasks and deadlines will serve you well in this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year college coursework in human resources and two years of technical human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of progressively responsible, similar training and experience are required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, AK and flexible on-site/hybrid/remote work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience. The hours of this position are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM Alaska time. The successful applicant must be available to work during these business hours.
