Summary
The HR Business Partner is responsible for formulating partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added services to employee groups within Odyssey Reinsurance Company. This position utilizes a consultative approach to develop and deliver solutions in the following areas: Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Employee Engagement, Leadership Development, Performance Management, Succession Planning, Employee Relations & Conflict Management, and Compensation Analysis. This position will report directly to the Senior HR Business Partner.
Essential Duties
- Consult with senior management providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment for assigned client groups in Odyssey Re U.S. This includes but is not limited to partnering with hiring managers to develop appropriate job postings, launching new roles with recruiting agencies, sourcing candidates utilizes various sources, managing the interview process, assessing and selecting candidates, developing offers and compensation packages, and managing relationships with recruiting agencies.
- Partner with the HR Generalist on the Internships Programs and Onboarding where needed.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues for effective, thorough, objective investigations where needed.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, regarding legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with legal department as needed/required.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management and employees to include coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
- Provide guidance and input on organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Identify training needs for departments and individual executive coaching needs. Partner with Training & Development Manager to design, develop, and deliver training programs.
- Provide compensation consultation as required to assist line management in the job description and evaluation process as well as the annual compensation process.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability
- 5-7 years of HR Generalist experience, with 1-3 of those years in an HR Business Partner role, preferably in the financial services, asset management, or investment banking industry
- Expertise in the Recruiting function
- Experience implementing programs designed to carry out organizational strategy, goals and alignment
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and respond quickly and creatively to changing, and sometimes competing priorities
- Exposure to, and working knowledge in the various HR disciplines including compensation, recruiting, employee relations and talent management
- Experience managing employee relations issues
- Highly analytical and an extremely high attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Proficiency with windows applications required; proficiency with HR systems including SuccessFactors preferred.
Education
- BA/BS degree; certifications and course work in specific areas of HR expertise preferred.
