The National Security Sector at Leidos, supporting the Energetics Program, is hiring for a Chemical Engineer. This Engineer will provide process, design, development, and production engineering support to the Propulsion Development Branch, DEVCOM Armaments Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.
Primary Responsibilities
Individual with strong engineering and technical skills required. Creative self-starter with ability to finish engineering projects from beginning to end without daily oversite. Previous internship or co-op in the engineering field is desirable. Employee will analyze and evaluate phases, subjects, issues, conditions, and/or problems related to production and test & evaluation related assignments; select the appropriate courses of action from many acceptable alternatives; and conduct technical analyses and field work to achieve desired products or services.
Documenting, reporting, and presenting technical information/data to senior level engineers and DOD officials is required. Hybrid work environment consisting of office/travel and remote work available, however applicant must reside within commuting distance to Rockaway, NJ.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, Chemical engineering preferred but Mechanical or Electrical engineering will be considered.
Must have advanced EXCEL skillset and experience or ability to quickly learn to read and understand mechanical drawings and technical data package elements.
Experience or ability to quickly learn thermochemical code, interior ballistics code, MATLAB/math software and drawing software required.
Must be able to work well in a team environment displaying an adequate level of interpersonal skills.
Must have US citizenship.
Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Public Trust within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with the following is a desirable but not necessary: Process Engineering, Industrial Facility Design/Startup, Production Engineering, Chemical Processing, Test and Evaluation.

You will be required to present a 2-3 slide presentation of a previous design, solution or problem solved on an engineering college project or internship/co-op. Presentation must include how 3 of the following were utilized to execute the work displayed on slides: 3D or 2D CAD drawing, computer code, Calculus level mathematical theorems/governing equations, engineering principles/laws, animation, teamwork, and problem solving.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
