The Westland Housing Commission seeks a Housing Assistant to support the Housing Choice

Occupation Summary:

• Process Housing Voucher Program systems and HUD reports.
• Maintain file storage.
• Assist Housing staff with data collection and processing.

Essential Job Functions:

• Understand and apply housing program requirements and federal regulations.
• Manage program information and documents.
• Maintain spreadsheets and program software.
• Assist Building Receptionist.
• Communicate procedures, problems, and policies with program participants and employees.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF and housing program software.
• Ability to follow directives and work with moderate supervision with skill in organizing and prioritizing responsibilities.
• Ability to deal with the public and other employees in a tactful and courteous manner.

Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma

Language Requirements:
English proficiency required.

Use of Tools and Equipment:

• Ability to use office equipment such as computer, calculator, copier, fax, scanner and telephone.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals, percentages, averages.

Environment: Work in normal office setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
