ANNOUNCEMENT Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a part-time, SWIC Educational Employee union position of Help Desk Technician.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this position performs hardware and software installation, configuration, and maintenance. Position also provides technical support to all Southwestern Illinois College users to include basic instruction on accessing SWICNET services, troubleshooting problems related to workstation applications, and setting up PC and Macintosh workstations. Work will involve close association with instructors and staff. Instructions and directions are received from the CIO, the Director of IT Support Services, Computing Services Coordinator and the Instructional Services Coordinator. Must frequently coordinate work assignments with the SWIC Network Services unit. Work requires the application of experience, technical knowledge and judgment in correctly identifying and resolving work related problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Associates Degree in computer-related field or additional college education with CIS/office administration and office technology emphasis is preferred.
3. Minimum of one-year experience supporting PCs, (hardware, software and network), Microsoft Windows operating system and peripherals is required.
4. Experience supporting Apple Macintosh operating system preferred.
5. Interpersonal skills are necessary. Must enjoy helping people of all ages and have the responsibility and self-discipline to work with limited supervision.
SALARY: $18.39 per hour, up to 28 hours per week
