How you Will Power our Purpose (Job Summary)
Under the direction of the Senior Health Wellness Director, the Personal Training Coordinator is a leadership position responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and high quality in the Personal Training Program and Fitness Center to enhance member engagement and retention. This position will provide leadership, staff development and administrative support to the Personal Training staff team. This position serves as the point of contact for Personal and Group Training Programs and assists with Fitness Center duties as needed.
How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)
Leadership
  • Provide leadership and support to all Personal Trainers and Fitness Floor Monitors.
  • Assist in auditioning, interviewing, and onboarding Personal Trainers and Fitness Floor Monitors.
  • Observe Personal Training consultations and provide feedback to ensure a smooth and consistent process.
  • Models and reinforces a positive, inclusive environment for members to pursue healthy living at all fitness levels.
  • Assist in leading monthly Personal Trainer in-service meetings.
  • Model high-quality personal training sessions for members.

Program Management/Operations
  • Oversee quality and delivery of Personal Training and Group Training, including responding to all member inquiries.
  • Maintain Personal Training and Group Training related schedules, records, and reports.
  • Ensures high-quality standards of personal training experience for our members.
  • Process all Personal Training agreements and registrations through Daxko Operations software.
  • Confirm all paperwork is correctly submitted by trainers and filed appropriately.
  • Send welcome emails to members of Personal Training and Group Training Programs.
  • Assist members in finding the best trainer match.
  • Follow up on all Personal Training Consultations to ensure members needs are met.
  • Assist with administrative support to the Group Exercise program, as needed.

Facilities/Risk Management
  • Ensure PAR-Q and medical clearance paperwork is completed and filed for all participants of Personal Training and Group Training programs.
  • Works with Personal Trainers and Floor Monitors to maintain facility cleanliness through close-out procedures, facility reset, and weekly audits.
  • Report equipment issues to Facility Director.
  • Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff and guests.
  • Become an Ambassador of the Y's work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Community Enterprise
  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college in exercise science, recreation management, sports management, kinesiology, public health, or a similar field preferred.
  • Knowledge of member relations system and/or database.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance basics.
  • Must assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work product.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to manage projects and coordinate events with other staff members and volunteers to achieve long-and short-range goals of the Association.
  • At least one year of direct supervision experience and Personal Training experience.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Current nationally accredited personal training certification (ACSM, NASM, MSCA, ACE).
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training provided by the YMCA must be completed.
