The Coordinator - Emergency Mgmt. is responsible for the management and coordination of facility EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS and environment of care. The position establishes effective working relationships with hospital staff, contractors, design consultants and authorities having jurisdiction such as city building officials, TDH, TJC,, CMS, etc. The Coordinator is expected to display a positive attitude as well as leadership attributes within the Facilities department. Development and implementation of emergency and continuity plans, policies, and protocols. Design, develop, administer and provide training and exercises for the assigned campus and areas. Must have a working knowledge of the Joint Commission, OSHA, Texas DSHS, CMS and other applicable regulatory agencies. The Coordinator works to manage and maintain a program to protect staff, patients, physicians and visitors by implementing standardized best EC and EM practice, planning and preparedness.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management/Homeland Security or related field required. Master's preferred.
Three (3) experience with Emergency Preparedness and Safety Compliance in a Healthcare setting.
Must have a CHEP (Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional) or able to obtain the certification within one year from date of hire. This position will serve as the facilities safety officer. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Must be familiar with building maintenance and construction techniques, equipment and operation of various systems including plumbing, HVAC, electrical and structural and applicable hospital equipment (i.e.: chillers, boilers etc.). Must be familiar with applicable codes: federal, state, city, NFPA and TJC regulations relating to healthcare facilities.
