Roles & Responsibilities: 

The lab of Prof. Panos Roussos at the Center for Disease Neurogenomics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a talented, self-motivated individual to participate in state-of-the-art translational research as a member of the Multiomics Technology Group. The Successful applicant will be part of an interdisciplinary team that generates large-scale human genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic data to better understand neuropsychiatric disease. 


Responsibilities
  • Performing routine laboratory bench work including making buffers, standard molecular biology techniques and the preparation of libraries for next generation sequencing. 
  • Processing of research samples including extracting and storing RNA, DNA and protein from a variety of sources including human cells and tissues.
  • Isolation of viable microglia from postmortem human brain specimens.
  • Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).

Qualifications
  • Excellent general laboratory and organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.
  • A willingness towards co-operation and teamwork along with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • The successful candidate will be eager to learn, have an ability to follow established experimental protocols with attention to detail and have previous molecular biology experience. Previous experience with flow cytometry is desirable but not necessary.
  • Bachelors degree in molecular biology, genetics, genomics or a related field.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16 - $59.9925 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
