As part of the design team at SPG, the Graphic Designer will support the Marketing/Design team as a collaborator across multiple projects, ranging from small to large scope. Taking part in large departmental projects such as catalog, packaging, retail signage, and other creative needs both internal and external. As a pivotal functional team member, they will work to assist and guide Jr Designers, and support Sr. Designers on elements of large brand partner and marketing campaigns. They maintain guidelines, monitor for consistency, and elevate design. Gaining industry knowledge, the Graphic Designer will work to improve team processes and add a valued voice to internal critiques and discussions.
The Graphic Designer will work with other Designers, Managers, and Photographers, and report directly to the Creative Services Project Manager.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions
- Manage multiple design projects at a time, taking from start to finish.
- Contribute to team critiques and design reviews, offering feedback and design notes.
- Collaborate with design team to create all manner of marketing materials.
- Edit photography and process assets for web retail and partners.
- Support and lead many processes in catalog creation, packaging, and marketing projects and campaigns.
- Maintain, name, and organize files to maintain consistency within internal organization systems.
- Build brand specific merchandizing materials such as packaging, banners, and signage.
- Lead projects under the mentorship of Senior Designers.
- Cultivate industry knowledge and expertise within the department.
- Help bring new ideas, concepts, and processes to the team to help department say up to date and relevant in industry standards & processes.
- Build and edit image assets in photoshop, filtering, and adjustments where needed.
Competencies/Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design.
- 2-3 years’ experience in the industry as a Junior or Graphic Designer.
- Experience with production, packaging, and print processes.
- A portfolio of relevant work (Print & Digital)
- Has a passion for design.
- Good conceptual skills, and ability to speak about and advocate for designs.
- Knowledge of design principles and typography.
- Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and optimism.
- Ability to work with a team, and to enthusiastically take part in creative processes.
- Excellence with the Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Self-motivated work ethic, detail oriented, and able to work autonomously.
- Has a collaborative problem-solving mindset, with ability to digest feedback to improve performance.
- Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of assessing processes for areas of improvement and to implement new processes.
- Attention to detail, and ability to work within prescribed guidelines and style guides.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Photography Experience. Not required but highly valued for our current needs.
- Social media content creation & management experience a plus.
- Adobe After Effects & Video Editing knowledge a plus.
