Summary of Position:
The GIS Specialist collects, manages, analyzes, models and presents geographic data, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Enterprise applications (Esri suite). This position builds and maintains GIS databases using methods including manual data entry, data creation, service creation, image digitization, and data upload from electronic sources. The GIS Specialist will help design and support the enterprise GIS applications including map document creation, data development, geospatial analysis, automated workflow processing, interact with customers and support GIS projects throughout the company.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct geospatial analyses of multiple datasets and themes (e.g., geologic, operational, measurement, reserves, engineering, midstream, land, environmental, regulatory, cadastral, imagery, cultural).
- Create detailed thematic and integrated maps and visualizations to support business applications.
- Analyze and interpret geospatial data to make informed decisions related to project planning and business applications.
- Integrate data from external data sources into GIS projects and the Enterprise geodatabase environment.
- Data creation and input, quality testing of GIS databases to ensure data quality and completeness.
- Support strategic GIS projects and deliverables, helping guide the technical and strategic direction.
- Design and produce mapping products that adhere to corporate cartographic & data management standards.
- Participate in GIS team meetings and outreach.
- Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Experience using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop GIS applications and extensions.
- Experience with performing basic and advanced geospatial analysis working with geospatial databases and services with demonstrated ability to create derivative datasets.
- Experience with geospatial data entry and conversion, and ability to work with survey and georeferenced data.
- Customer focused, with the ability to work with multiple customer groups.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new technology tools and workflows.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create cartographic maps.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in geospatial land analysis required.
- Experience in oil and gas industry strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Esri applications, including ArcGIS Enterprise (Server) and ArcGIS Pro applications and extensions.
Travel Requirements:
- Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
- Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
- Travel required to the Civitas office and field locations.

Base Pay Range: $72,900 - $76,000
