Job Description:Under direct supervision, learns and helps to set up a GIS software platform that supports a grant funded project, All History is Local.Uses the software both independently and under supervision to contribute metadata that showcases digital objects and files according to national and West Texas locations. Communicates with grant leaders and fellow students in a professional manner and helps to meet grant deadlines and purpose. Reports to library personnel while also working with faculty.
Required Qualifications:- Must be a currently enrolled student.
- Must be able to work in a professional environment.
- Comfort working in a cloud-based computer environment using Microsoft products – primarily Word and Teams.
- Ability to learn and work within a robust GIS software platform.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and efficiently.
- Works with great attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and complete tasks according to given deadlines.
- Sophomore standing or above.
- Majoring in Computer Science, Biology, History, or similar program.
- Experience using GIS software.
- Maintains a personal laptop for use in the position.
- Walking, sitting, lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Extensive computer use
