Job Description
The Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) is seeking a GIS Database Specialist II in the Austin, Texas area. The GIS Database Specialist II will play a key role in maintaining and updating CAPCOG’s 9-1-1 GIS database and meeting other GIS and mapping needs within the agency. Work in support of 9-1-1 GIS includes submission of monthly updates of address points, roads, emergency service boundaries, and city limit boundaries into Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) map displays. The GIS Database Specialist also supports the use of these data in emergency management, such as CAPCOG’s Regional Notification System (RNS) and WebEOC. Provides mapping and GIS analytical assistance to other agency program areas, including air quality, aging services, economic development, planning, solid waste, and transportation. Position is eligible for telecommuting up to two days a week.

Education: GIS Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, or Bachelor’s degree with strong GIS course work required.
Experience: 3 years’ experience as a GIS professional using ArcGIS Desktop (ArcGIS Pro) and ArcGIS Online is required; Experience or training in use of ArcEnterprise and management of geodatabases is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and job experience may be substituted as determined by the supervisor.
Salary Range: $57,000 – $67,000
