Role and Responsibilities
Make appropriate general journal entries. Ensure bank reconciliations and accounts payable statements are completed. Ensure proper cost accounting assignment, matching income with expenses. Reconciliation of prepaid expenses. Produce the first draft of the month-end trial balance and review for miscoding. Produce the first draft of the balance sheet and income statement. Produce financial ratios for the final version of final statements. Process accounts payable and receivables as assigned. Analyze data using pivot tables and ad-hoc reporting to provide better accounting status to upper management. Assist in the implementation of accounting automation solutions and accounting procedures and policies.
Specific responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, the following key responsibilities.
- Proper assignment of debits and credits – assets, liabilities, equity, income, and expense.
- Financial statement development – balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement.
- Financial ratios.
- Month-end and year-end closing requirements with backup documentation and worksheets.
- General journal entry recording and backup development.
- Accounts payable voucher coding and check printing.
- Accounts receivable invoice entry and cash receipts entry.
- Prepaid expense management and allocation.
- Bank statement reconciliations.
- Accounts payable statement reconciliations.
- Cost accounting application.
- GAAP, Arizona, California, and Federal accounting and business rules knowledge.
- Perform special projects, and additional assignments, by lead or supervisor, or manager to support the department.
- Willingness and ability to adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
- Assist in other areas of Administration as needed.
- Participate in cross-training efforts that support personal development and provide departmental coverage.
- Work at a pace to complete the work within the assigned schedule.
Physical demands of the job: During an 8-10-hour shift, the employee will perform the following on a frequent to constant basis:
- The employee must have the ability to sit, walk, talk, hear, see, speak, concentrate, reach in all directions, stoop, bend, lift 25lbs.

- Cost accounting knowledge.

Qualifications
- Three to four years of accounting experience in a row crop environment is preferred.
- Associate degree in accounting is preferred.
- Knowledge of cost accounting procedures in the agriculture industry.
- Experience in AgStar, Famous, or other Agricultural software solutions.
- Conscientious, detail-oriented, self-motivated.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks timely and accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a strong ability to interact effectively with individuals at all company levels, including Owners, Executives, Management, and front-line workers.
- Excellent MS Office Suite skills and intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to plan, troubleshoot and anticipate problems and solve them.
- Ability to learn new technologies for production and record keeping.
- Be highly organized and punctual and exhibit a strong work ethic.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
