Job Title: Front Desk Medical Office Receptionist
PrimeCare Medical Center is a state-of-the-art practice located in Charlotte, North Carolina where our emphasis is on quality healthcare. PrimeCare Medical Center offers primary care physicians and specialized diagnosis and treatment in urgent care, weight management, and internal medicine. PrimeCare also offers cardiovascular studies, heart monitoring, and X-ray services in-office by trained specialists.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Medical Office Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, insurance verification, payment collection, answering phones, scheduling appointments, presenting payment options, and other standard Front Desk duties. The Referral Coordinator supports the work of the Front Desk, in addition to completing the process of patient checkout and referrals including accurate checkout, paperwork processing, patient education and communication with Client Support Services as required in accordance with office protocols.
Essential Functions:
- Welcome patients and visitors to the medical office
- Answer patient’s telephone inquiries or referring questions to other staff members
- Schedule appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms. Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider
- Ensure that patient insurance information is updated, assists patients with questions
- Retrieve and send out patient records
- Opens and sort office mail. Delivers outgoing mail to the post office at end of day
- Participates in the medical office emergency routine when required. Summons ambulance or EMS or assists other staff members as needed
- Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Experience in medical office/clinic setting
- Reception/ Front Desk experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans
- Ability to learn software quickly and operate computer, fax machine and email
- Must be detail oriented and have strong reading/writing skills
- Must possess professional attitude and telephone courtesy
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Must be self-motivated and take initiative
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Physical demands include requirement to regularly sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; lift up to 10 lbs.; vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
