Facilities Maintenance Assistant

The purpose of this role is to assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the buildings, facilities, and grounds of Elk Creek Forest Products. This position directly assists Facilities Maintenance and is responsible for property and facilities upkeep and minor improvements and repairs around the property. This role has an impact on the overall functionality, efficiency, and safety of the company.

Responsibilities

• Perform clean-up duties throughout the facility, including but not limited to: Picking up banding, corners, and other debris around the yard and warehouses. Empty garbage cans into dumpsters.
• Property and facilities upkeep, including but not limited to: Trash removal. Mowing, trimming, digging, raking, and weeding. Pressure washing. Painting. Fence repair.
• Assist in preventative maintenance, repairs, and general custodial duties as it relates to buildings, facilities, and groundskeeping.
• Assist with intermediate carpentry, plumbing, and electrical projects as needed.
• Assist firewood and free wood programs by putting together firewood bundles, moving free wood dumpsters, and loading customers when needed.
• Monitor the facilities for safety hazards related to housekeeping.
• Inspect buildings to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Alert supervisor of any potential liabilities or repairs.
• Assist in minor maintenance on a variety of equipment.
• Respond to all service requests and complete all work orders in a timely manner.
• Operate power equipment to perform essential duties as needed.
• Assist millwright team as needed.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

• Ability to receive and follow directions (both written and verbal) and work without close supervision
• Self-motivated and self-starter
• Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
• Must be safety oriented and comply with all safety rules
• Flexibility regarding work assignments
• High attention to detail
• Strong customer service skills to interact with employees and vendors
