The City of Hillsboro's Public Works - Facilities team is seeking an Electrician with experience working in a multi-sports venue environment to be an integral member of our team. In this position, you will primarily work at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex (GFRC) that hosts a wide range of sporting and entertaining events throughout the year, including the Hillsboro Hops, Portland State University, Timber T-2 Soccer Club, University of Portland, local high schools, and other exciting events such as concerts, marching bands competitions, marathons, and more. The Electrician in this position will support the operational needs of the complex - work includes new installations, repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance. You must be someone who can work independently, is self-driven, and able to perform at a high level while handling the wide range of time sensitive projects and repairs.
Gordon Faber Recreation Complex
The 90+ acre GFRC is a destination location for sporting events and numerous community activities that includes softball, soccer, football, baseball, and lacrosse, spectator opportunities in sporting events, special events, and community and corporate activities. The Complex also hosts events and tournaments that attract spectators and participants for the region and throughout the country. With a 7,000-seat Hillsboro Stadium home to Portland State University Football and Women's Soccer, 6-premier natural softball/baseball fields (home to Portland State University Softball), two-artificial turf softball/baseball fields and a 4,500-seat baseball stadium, Ron Tonkin Field (Home field of the Hillsboro Hops), there is plenty to see and experience.
The Role
This is a full-time position. Work is primarily 8-hour days and is overtime eligible. This position is eligible for a full benefits package and Public Employees Retirement (PERS). Hours for this position will vary according to daily activities at the complex, including evenings, weekends. and holidays. Participation in an on-call pager rotation may be required with a required 30-minute response time while on-call.This person must be willing to work in a variety of conditions, from confined space, to elevated platform lifts, to leading roof edges, and in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs electrical work and preventative maintenance. Installs, troubleshoots and maintains electrical installations, including video/score boards, fiber and data networks, fire alarm panels, amplified systems, restaurant equipment, and more.
- Responds to and resolves customer issues. Interacts with vendors and evaluates service provided and actions to be taken.
- Oversees event set-ups.
- Prepares and tracks activity reports, documents, invoices, estimates and work orders.
- Supports Hillsboro Hops, Timbers T-2 Soccer, PSU Softball seasons and upcoming events which include rentals, softball and baseball tournaments, league softball season, and a winter holiday Lightopia event.
4 years' experience as an Electrician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing/Certifications
- Oregon Journeyman Electrician License
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
- Experience working as an Electrician in a sports complex, ballpark, stadium, or similar settings.
- Ability to work independently a majority of the time.
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of conditions, from confined space to elevated platform lifts, to leading roof edges, and in all weather conditions.
- Self-driven to perform at a high level while handling the wide range of time sensitive projects and repairs.
