Job Overview

Assist in the marketing, production, staff management, distribution, and financial operations of a publication department.


We seek tech-savvy candidates with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and keen attention to detail. The selected person will help maintain the production schedules of six to seven books annually, submit published titles for contest and award consideration, fulfill requests for review copies, manage the website (continually updating it with press for our titles and author events), enter contracts into the royalty tracking system, help organize and oversee our annual appearance at the Book Fair of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference, assist with social media posts, onboard new graduate and undergraduate staff, coordinate with the business manager in handling monthly expenses and in paying freelancers and authors, obtain bids from printers and coordinate warehouse delivery of stock, track stock of existing titles and initiate reprintings, assist with local and remote author events.


This part-time position (75% FTE, calendar year) includes benefits, and the selected candidate will become a vital part of a small but committed staff.


This position has a remote work option. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions

  • Gather and evaluate information and assist in determining priorities.
  • Coordinate and evaluate procedures.
  • Coordinate the use of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform research concerning procedures and practices, identifying problems and recommending solutions.
  • Serve as liaison for administrator in the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Represent administrator on committees and attend meetings on behalf of administrator.
  • May coordinate personnel transactions.
  • Receive and reconcile expense statements.
  • Review and monitor expenditures on supplies, equipment, etc.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

Required Experience

One (1) year of relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications Considered

Experience with social media and web writing.
Experience with event planning.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; Adobe Illustrator and/or Canva; and Wordpress
Self-motivated and driven to learn new things.
Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and prioritize responsibilities.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary of $34,500 for 30 hours per week.
Competitive salary range dependent on the candidate's experience.
