THE POSITION
Under direction, performs professional administrative duties in support of City special events, public outreach initiatives, and related programs and activities; designs, plans, implements, and coordinates approved events, including the City’s signature special events; establishes and maintains communications with vendors and other participants while serving as the City’s liaison to address any questions or concerns; attends events, meets with vendors to assist with set-up, and helps resolve any problems that arise; serves as the City’s liaison to various community and outside organizations/groups desiring to hold events within the City limits and/or on City properties; and performs related duties as assigned.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that provides the above listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way of qualifying would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in marketing, public relations, business or public administration, or a related field; AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in event management, community outreach, or a related area that included responsibility for planning, organizing, facilitating, and coordinating public events involving multiple stakeholders.
Related experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.
License/Certificate:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record.
Work Hours
Non-traditional work hours are required for this position. Requires working some evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to attend scheduled events.
Desirable:
Bilingual (Spanish)

CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCESS

2. Examination Phase:
Based upon the information presented on the application, a limited number of candidates who possess qualifications most pertinent to the position will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include but is not limited to the following components: application review and evaluation, written examination or exercise, and interview evaluation.

3. Establishment of Eligibility List:
Candidates who successfully complete the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list pending further review by the department head and other qualifying procedures.

All employment offers made by the City are contingent upon establishing proof of a prospective candidate's legal authorization to work in the United States and successfully passing all components of the pre-employment process which may include, but is not limited to: comprehensive background check, criminal history check (livescan fingerprint check), and post offer medical evaluation with a drug screen.
