Events Coordinator

The Hotel Salem is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our exciting team in the position of Events Coordinator. This person will collaborate directly with the Sales Manager and General Manager on the booking and execution of a wide variety of events including weddings, corporate groups, and retreats. The position is also responsible for booking and servicing hotel room blocks and group business.

The perfect candidate will have a passion for selling and hospitality, as this position allows for an intimate connection with the client as you guide them from initial inquiry to booking to the day of services.

The right candidate will make contributions to our brands social media messaging, and overall yearly sales plan.

$20 - $25 an hour plus commission

• Work with the Sales Manager and coordinate all aspects of events
• Respond to event inquiries in a prompt and professional manner
• Meet with prospective clients
• Responsible for the setup and breakdown of events and managing a staff of up to 10 employees
• Coordinate events including a variety of tasks such as space reservations, menu selections, publicizing events by adding details to the website and social media, coordinating all necessary AV needs, and various vendors
• Responsible for generating meeting materials, signage, and invitations as needed
• In addition, the Event Coordinator will assist the Marketing Team on various other marketing-related projects as needed
• Perform administrative duties as needed

• 1-2 years prior events experience
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Hospitality or Sales preferred
• Hotel Front Office Experience a plus
• Strong organizational skills
• Efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Photoshop
• This individual must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with many distractions
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

The Hotel Salem is a vibrant and one-of-a-kind accommodation on the North Shore of Boston. This 44-room boutique Salem hotel is in the middle of the action on the bustling Essex Street pedestrian mall in the city center. It is home to two restaurants including Salem's only seasonal rooftop bar as well as multiple event spaces.
