The Events Coordinator is responsible for running an exciting and varied author events program for our community. This part-time position works an average of 20 hours per week, which varies up and down seasonally according to the events schedule, and can include some weekends, as well as bookseller shifts during the holidays.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Taking a leading role in nurturing the store’s relationships with publishers, authors, presenters, media, and community organizations.
- Scheduling a variety of events, ranging from in-store readings to off-site author appearances with large audiences.
- Working with the store’s Marketing Coordinator to ensure our press kit and event-related promotional materials convey a cohesive and compelling message.
- Creating partnership opportunities for sales at outside events being sponsored by other local organizations.
- Making sure all events run smoothly, from initial setup to final takedown (must be comfortable hosting).
- Ensuring the overall profitability of our events program.
The role of Events Coordinator requires:
- Extensive knowledge of the current literary landscape.
- Top-notch professionalism, including excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills.
- Resourcefulness and creativity.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- This position also involves standing, stairs, and occasional lifting, up to 30 lbs.
