JOB TITLE: Environmental Services Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services
REPORTS TO: Grower Manager
WAGE RANGE: $65,000-$75,000 annually
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This leadership position is responsible for the timely coordination and tracking of irrigation and pest control products at Briggs Nursery. Pest control products may be chemical or biological and pests may be weeds, insects, diseases, rodents or other plant dangers. This position communicates with managers, irrigators, and spray applicators to ensure water and chemicals are applied in a timely manner in accordance with crop production goals. This position requires flexibility as well as excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates irrigation and spray activities between departments to keep applications on target.
2. Coordinates preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and operations of irrigation and spray equipment and components.
3. Tracks projects, applications, and labor hours on a weekly basis.
4. Maintains inventories and submits purchase orders.
5. Performs troubleshooting and grower support to ensure plants are properly watered and free of pests.
6. Coordinates proper winterization of wells, buildings, and equipment as per Briggs winterization protocols.
7. Hires new employees and sets schedules to meet seasonal needs.
8. Submits labor budgets and reports to Ownership.
9. Works with Grower Manager and production team to improve irrigation and pest management strategies.
10. Attends weekly production and grower-related meetings.
11. Attends conferences and training as authorized by Ownership.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at minimum training rates. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. Must be dependable and have a solid work attendance history
2. Must be self-motivated, able to work alone as well as with a crew
3. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime if needed
4. Basic knowledge and interest in growing plants
5. Ability to perform basic mathematical and conversion calculations
6. Basic plumbing knowledge
7. Computer skills – Microsoft office and spread sheet proficiency
8. Ability to read and analyze scientific information, chemical labels, and government forms
9. Attention to detail
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. Associates Degree and 2+ years related experience and/or 5+ years’ experience in a turf, horticultural, or agricultural setting with increasing responsibility.
2. 1+ years supervisory experience
3. Experience in record-keeping
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and effectively communicate in English verbally and in-writing.

2. Self-motivated with the ability to be flexible and maintain a calm, positive attitude towards changing circumstances
