Job Description
*This is a paid internship
Role Summary:
Quantum Signal AI is looking for an Engineering Support Intern for the summer of 2024. The Engineering Support team has a wide range of responsibilities at QSAI including assisting developers and designers with the operation of novel in-vehicle systems, data collection, data handling & processing, software testing & quality assurance (QA), and research support. As an intern, you will work on all the above, as well as make meaningful progress on your own project assignments. Extensive work experience is not required, however a deep technological curiosity and a bias for action when it comes to problem solving are. We like lifelong learners who don’t mind diverse tasking and are ok with breadth over depth when it comes to workload (we’re talking about you, generalists!).
Location:
We are located in Saline, Michigan. This position is in-person to encourage a culture of collaboration and mentorship.
What You’ll Do:
- Apply software testing and QA techniques to ensure the highest levels of quality on outgoing project deliverables
- Use scripting techniques to automate software tests and contribute to the software development life cycle
- Collaborate with vehicle engineering teams testing novel in-vehicle technologies
- Off-load & process data collected onboard vehicles and/or benchtop vehicle proxies
- Assist engineering & IT teams as necessary with day-to-day operations, inventory management, and computer hardware assembly & disassembly
- Support the operation of research studies, including participant scheduling, proctoring, and data handling
What You’ll Bring:
- Current enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program
- Technological curiosity and an insatiable desire to learn and problem solve
- Advanced computer skills and proficiency in a wide array of common software tools
- A critical eye as to what makes for good software
- Flexibility to work on a wide range of projects and ability to adapt quickly
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Bonus Points For:
- An atypical course load or educational background
- Enthusiasm for computers, robots, and/or vehicles
- School, work, or hobby experience with any of the following:
- Programming or scripting experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar
- Linux
- Basic computer networking
- IT system administration
- File systems and databases
- User interface design and user experience
- Experience building your own PC or similar tinkering with electronics
You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you are excited about this role and think you can bring value to Quantum Signal AI, we encourage you to apply!
What You’ll Get:
- Frequent collaboration with a diverse set of teams at QSAI
- A relaxed, fun community and environment in which to solve interesting problems
- Opportunity to participate in a 401(k) savings plan
- Ford AXZ-Plan vehicle discounts
- Other perks to fuel creativity such as an on-site gymnasium, free drinks and snacks, and a variety of optional team activities
Candidates for positions with Quantum Signal AI must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
