Electrical Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

FSI is looking to hire an Electrical Shop supervisor to join our team. The Electrical Shop Supervisor will have extensive supervisory knowledge of personnel and organizes, plans and coordinates the activities of subordinate personnel. Establishes work standards and priorities. Performs a variety of electrical trade functions and improves work methods. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Installs and repairs a variety of electrical equipment such as fire alarm systems, generators, transformer, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, elating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment.
• Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
• Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
• Work standard computations relating to load requirement of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Uses a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
• Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.
• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment and such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
• Connect power supply wires to machines, equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electrical components, such as printed circuit boards.
• Replace electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
• Plan layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
• Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Perform all duties in conformance with company safety policies and procedures.
• Distribute PMO & DMO work assignments in accordance with instructions from the Supervisor and/or Facility Services Manager
• Be accountable for the shift they are assigned to, and the work submitted to that shift.
• Ensure effective communication and calls are answered in a timely manner by themselves or an appropriately assigned employee.
• Work in conjunction with the Supervisor and Facility Services Manager to maintain and promote shop productivity.
• Ensure equipment failures and/or emergencies are reported immediately to the Supervisor and Facility Services Manager.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Two (2)-year certificate from college or technical school; two to three years related experience in supervision of a work force; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• All state or federal requirements; or any license or certification that may be required by the contract in which the employee is working.
• Shall possess a working knowledge of 120/208 and 277/480-volt electrical systems to include repair or replace electrical switches, etc.; inspects fuses, and electrical contracts.
• Shall be able to layout plans, install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment such as: Motor Control Circuits, Alarm Systems, Lighting Circuits.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License, insurable driving record.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a NACI (National Agency Check with Inquires)
