Job Summary
Performs a variety of supporting financial tasks including collecting and recording tax payments, balancing daily receipts, and other support services for the functions of the Treasurer's Office.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to the public both in person and on the telephone.
- Accept and processes delinquent tax payments and answer questions regarding delinquent taxes, payments and forfeiture/foreclosure procedures on properties.
- Answer office telephone. Review, respond or distribute general office email and faxes.
- Process fees and issue dog licenses and kennel licenses. Maintain records as necessary.
- Balance daily receipts to BS&A reports.
- Verify legal descriptions in order to issue tax clearances for all warranty deeds and land contracts.
- Process and track library trust payments.
- Process and track trailer fee payments.
- Receipt for Personal Property payments in BS&A and reconciliation of rolls. Strike properties from rolls as required.
- Perform tasks necessary to assure short-term bonding of Township and City Treasurers.
- Prepare property deeds as required. Assure recordation of deeds.
- Process miscellaneous disbursements and invoicing as assigned.
- Initiate and send required communications to departments, local unit Treasurers and others as assigned.
- Serve as backup for the Forfeiture/Foreclosure Assistant and the Administrative/Accounting Assistant as needed.
- Participate in forfeited property visits/postings and track required information gathered at these visits (photos, notes re: condition, occupancy etc.) as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- The job requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of an Associate Degree in Accounting, Business, or similar field of study or three years of relevant experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
- Intermediate to advanced skill in Microsoft Office Excel & Word programs. Ability to effectively utilize specialized database applications such as the BS&A.
- Excellent customer service skills that includes working with diverse groups of people. Ability to effectively communicate with the general public and County Departments.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and change those priorities as necessary.
- Physical ability to participate in property visits and transport items weighing up to fifteen pounds.

Working Conditions
- Predominantly in a normal office environment with little, if any, discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.
- Intermittent or cyclical work pressures are periodically experienced.
- Occasional work at external sites while participating in property visits resulting in exposure to varied weather conditions and occasional exposure to unpleasant odors, noises, etc.
