This position is responsible for program planning, implementation, evaluation and assuring compliance with state guidelines and policies for communicable disease control. This position will also assist with other health promotion and education activities within the Health Department as needed. Partner with local hospitals, health care providers, nursing homes, and schools to receive prompt notification of reportable diseases to begin the disease investigation process in a timely manner as well as to disseminate helpful information to prevent their further spread.
Development of a working relationship with the state, federal and local agencies.
Establish an on-going relationship with local medical providers to include, but not limited to, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and hospital, school, county government, and day care staff.
Design and develop brochures, reports, manuals, newsletters, pamphlets, resource packets, posters, and various training materials promoting Public Health issues and Health Department activities. Write press releases and health alerts for local papers, physicians, hospitals, and schools as directed.
Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that help to reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts. Utilize GIS to answer questions and solve problems by looking at data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared. Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, or Health Education and several years of experience in data analysis, statistics, and interpretation of epidemiological data in the relevant disease/health subject area.
Preferred: Master's Degree in above preferred. Two years of experience in Public Health, preferably in a Disease Surveillance and/or health promotion/education capacity. Employment Type: GRANT FUNDED
