THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus Technologies seeks an experienced  Director of Strategic Programs reporting to our Chief Operating Officer .  The successful individual in this role will possess a strategic mindset and a passion for technology-driven defense solutions.  This position is on a hybrid schedule, a minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The location for this role is Silvus' HQ in the heart of West Los Angeles, CA .
 
In this vital role, you will be at the helm of managing our most critical programs, leveraging your expertise to deliver cutting edge solutions. Your mission will be to orchestrate the success of each program, harnessing the collective strengths of diverse internal teams. You will be the driving force behind innovative solutions that redefine industry standards, ensuring each project not only aligns with our organizational goals but also sets new benchmarks in operational excellence.

The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Program Leadership and Strategy: Act as the primary focal point for all activities related to SIlvus' Strategic Programs. Drive these programs towards success and guide strategic direction.
    • Project Planning: Plan project timelines, milestones, and deliverables across all assigned programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations. Establish program management baselines and execute structured scope and configuration management actions.
    • Collaborative Coordination: Serve as the main internal focal point, effectively collaborating and coordinating with cross-functional teams (including sales engineering, applications engineering, product engineering, supply chain, production, finance, quality, etc.) to ensure program objectives are met.
    • Budget Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for each program, ensuring cost-effectiveness, financial integrity, and profitability.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including military clients, internal teams, and external partners.
    • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the programs.
    • Technical Oversight: Ensure technical excellence in program deliverables, staying abreast of advancements in MANET technology and relevant fields.
    • Quality Assurance: Flow down program quality requirements to suppliers and teammates. Implement quality control measures and continuous improvement processes across all programs.
    • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all program activities comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, particularly in defense-related projects.
    • Reporting and Analysis: Regularly report on program status using data-driven analysis for informed decision-making.
    • Process and System Innovation: Bring extensive program/project management experience to set up new systems and processes, streamlining program management.
    • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS - up to 25%; regular travel to partner sites, custom meetings, or events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM program plus a minimum of 10 years of program management experience in a defense or technology related industry; 8 years of program management experience in a defense or technology related industry with an advanced degree.
    • Program Management (PM) Best Practices: Knowledge and experience in deploying program management best practices and establishing PM functional excellence.
    • Technical Proficiency: Foundational understanding of communications technology and its applications in military contexts.
    • Project Management Skills: Proven track record in managing complex projects, including timeline coordination, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities to effectively liaise with all levels; in military clients, internal teams, and external partners.
    • Risk Management: Experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating program risks.
    • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in defense-related projects.
    • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Must have minimum clearance at SECRET level; OR the ability to obtain a SECRET US Government security clearance within 12 months of start date.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Master's or PhD degree in Engineering or related STEM program.
    • Demonstrated industry experience specifically in managing military programs at tiers 1, 2 or 3.
    • Army or other military programs.
    • Innovative Mindset: Experience in implementing new systems and methodologies to improve program management.
    • Technical Depth: Advanced knowledge of systems engineering and general knowledge of RF technology and related fields.
    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to strategic planning and innovation within the department or organization.
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, crucial for internal and external stakeholder management.
$140,000 - $200,000 a year
The salary range is NOT a guarantee, is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
NOTE - As a US Federal Contractor, Silvus Technologies requires that ALL candidates being considered for employment for any position (regardless of level) MUST be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen).  Stricter U.S. Citizen ONLY requirements (needed for some Engineering or R&D roles) will be included in the Required Qualifications section of the posted position.  Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.
