Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs the long and short-term goals of Sun Valley Human Resources Department in alignment with Grand America Hotels & Resorts Human Resource plan.
- Manages a team of 5-7 employees in Human Resources including day-to-day operations and performance management of the team including recruiting, talent development, benefits, housing, and engagement.
- Drives talent management initiatives including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning with the intent to be an employer of choice.
- Oversees benefit administration for Sun Valley including compliance with ACA, health care eligibility and enrollment process, communication to employees, and collaboration with shared services team in Salt Lake City.
- Drives DEI initiatives to create a welcome, supportive, and respectful employee culture
- Provides recommendations to senior leadership on organizational changes, staffing, and workforce plans, learning and development opportunities, as well as goal alignment.
- Compliance officer regarding FMLA, DOL, ADA, and all federal, state, and local employment regulations and ensures the company is in compliance with set forth employment regulations.
- Partners with finance and compensation committee to create wage and salary compensation plans to administer merit increases, market adjustments, and variable pay plans.
- HRIS system expert for Sun Valley, understands and provides direction to the team regarding workflows, process improvements, and system capabilities to increase productivity and improve employee experience.
- Oversees rewards and recognition programs for the company and ensures employee engagement and benefits/privileges are competitive and communication of programs is widely distributed.
- Maintains custodian of records policies are enforced and all record keeping is current including I-9, employee files, release of liability, and handbook acknowledgments.
- Leads learning and development opportunities for Sun Valley and provides direction and coordination for manager training as well as new hire orientations.
- Driver of analytical insights and reporting to guide and influence areas such as employee engagement, compensations, workforce planning, and turnover.
- Grievance counselor responsible for employee relation activities including investigations, enforcement of anti-harassment policy, and employee code of conduct.
- Responsible for oversight of employee housing inventory, asset management, rent collection, and successful housing programs that provide clean, affordable, and safe employee housing products.
- Assists in the administration of workers compensation claims.
- Consult with legal counsel on personnel and compliance issues as appropriate.
- Actively participates in Resort Leadership Team and Senior Team functions. Maintains knowledge of hospitality and winter sports industry employment trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 5-7 years experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ski industry experience preferred.
- SHRM certification preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate meaningful insights using HRIS data.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal, are needed to provide effective presentations to all stakeholders.
- Build trustworthy relationships.
- Business acumen with the ability to generate HR policies or process improvements that impact bottom-line results.
- Strategic advisor to senior management on all things related to people.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position on the senior leadership team required to work weekends and holidays as needed. Human Resource office hours are typically Monday – Saturday during the winter season.
Travel:
The position is located in Sun Valley, Idaho, although some overnight travel out of the area can be expected.
